Trailer interchange/Non-owned trailer coverage insures the physical damage to trailers you don’t own while it is attached to your power unit. Without this coverage, the trailer you are pulling is not covered for physical damage in case of an accident.
Trailer Interchange Insurance requires a written agreement between the trucker and the company who owns the trailer you’re pulling. Without an agreement, you need a Non-owned trailer policy.
These policies can come in many different coverage amounts. Most common is the request for $25,000 of coverage by brokers and shippers.
